i'm a week away from the LA Marathon, and ya'll, my little leggies are tired

don't get me wrong—my training program is a great one. but it's built off the idea of running on fatigued legs, which means lots of hills, sprints, and long runs for twelve weeks straight. and because i came fresh off of the Chicago Marathon, it was important for me to be super careful to take my rest days seriously and let my body recover. 

one of my favorite recovery methods? EATING. [c'mon, you knew that was coming]

turmeric is easily the MVP of my kitchen and medicine cabinet—anti-inflammatory curcumin is well-researched for it's many health benefits. we're talking improved circulation, cancer-fighting properties, and pain relief that rivals most over-the-counter medications. and it makes this gorgeous bright-yellow drink that's bound to make you smile. what i love about it? chugging recovery smoothies makes me faster—and you know i love going fast. 

super-fast runner turmeric smoothie

super-fast runner's turmeric smoothie 


1 teaspoon turmeric
2 inch cube of fresh ginger, sliced
4 oz of coconut water
4 oz aloe water
1/2 cup of frozen pineapple
2 tablespoons MCT or coconut oil
1 tablespoon golden berries (for sweetness)

Throw all ingredients into a Vitamix and blend, blend, blend! Garnish with bee pollen, try not to take too many pictures for instagram.
